Scope of Work
The Instrument Engineer is responsible for supporting the commissioning and operational readiness activities for all instrumentation and control systems in the expanded mineral processing plant. The role ensures that instrumentation installations, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover activities are conducted safely, timely, and meet design and operational requirements. Post-commissioning, the engineer will support plant startup, troubleshooting, and the establishment of maintenance strategies for instrumentation systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and approve commissioning plans and procedures for all instrumentation equipment (e.g., transmitters, analyzers, control valves, PLC/DCS systems, instrumentation packages).
Ensure correct installation, loop checking, calibration, functional testing, and commissioning of instruments and control systems according to project specifications and industry standards.
Support the verification and validation of control system functionality, ensuring integration with SCADA, DCS, ESD, and other automation systems.
Witness and verify Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning tests.
Identify, log, and manage commissioning punch list items and ensure their timely close-out.
Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, Process, and Vendor teams to ensure multi-disciplinary commissioning activities are synchronized.
Troubleshoot instrumentation issues during commissioning and early operation phases, propose corrective actions, and ensure reliable plant operation.
Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and training materials for Operations & Maintenance teams.
Contribute to lessons learned registers and provide feedback for future projects.
Ensure compliance with Indonesian regulations, company standards, and international best practices regarding safety, environmental, and operational policies.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control & Automation Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in instrumentation commissioning in large industrial or mining projects, preferably in mineral processing plants.
Technical Competencies
- Instrument calibration and commissioning experience.
- Good understanding of DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD systems.
- Familiar with Indonesian standards (SNI), IEC standards, and Mining HSE regulations.
- Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and instrument datasheets.
- Knowledge in fieldbus technologies, control loop tuning, and safety instrumented systems.
Certifications
- Instrumentation calibration certificates are preferred.
- Working knowledge of HAZOP, SIL, and risk assessment processes.
Other Requirements
- Proven track record working on EPC projects, especially in commissioning phases.
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
- Willingness to work on a site-based roster.
- Strong safety and risk management orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in copper/gold mineral processing plant commissioning is a strong advantage.
Vendor liaison experience (for major instrumentation packages).
Experience with commissioning management systems (CMS) or project completion tools like WinPCS, OmegaPS, etc.
