Some of your duties will include:

The Senior Estimating & Civil Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the Strategic & Planning company by developing accurate and detailed cost estimates, creating and maintaining cost models, and providing civil engineering expertise for projects across mine site operations. The position involves reviewing and refining civil engineering designs, supporting contract negotiations and administration, overseeing project execution, and ensuring delivery within defined budgets, scopes, and schedules. This role requires collaboration with other related departments and external stakeholders to optimize resource allocation, mitigate risks, and ensure project success, particularly in remote and logistically challenging environments.

Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates for a range of Strategic & Planning projects, including site development, access roads, ore transportation infrastructure, utilities, , and other supporting infrastructure.
Develop comprehensive bid packages, technical specifications, and project scopes; review and analyze bid submissions and contract documents to identify risks, opportunities, and engineering solutions to optimize cost saving measures and project schedule.
Maintain and continuously update cost databases and estimation models to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and robustness.
Monitor, track, update, and refine cost modelling for mine site infrastructure, including existing operational mines, operating expenditures (OpEx), and capital expenditures (CapEx).
Provide regular cost analysis, tracking, and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules.
Contribute to the development of long-term budgets and forecasts to support strategic planning initiatives.
Civil Engineering Design:
Review and provide engineering input for civil infrastructure designs to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including safety and environmental standards, as well as company policies.
Actively contribute to the preparation and execution of Scoping Studies, Pre-Feasibility Studies, Feasibility Studies, and Definitive Feasibility Studies, delivering technical and financial evaluations to guide project decisions.
Assess site-specific challenges such as geotechnical, hydrological, and environmental factors to inform robust engineering designs.
Promote the incorporation of sustainable engineering practices in all design activities.
Strategic & Operational Planning:
Collaborate with related departments to align civil engineering projects with broader strategic objectives and operational requirements.
Develop and manage detailed project schedules for civil works to support Strategic and Planning initiatives.
Identify risks associated with working in remote and rugged environments, proposing effective mitigation strategies to minimize project impacts.
Assist in the prioritization and optimization of capital investments to ensure alignment with business goals.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Actively participate in project planning and strategy meetings, contributing expertise to the development and execution of project objectives.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of studies and project components.
Facilitate clear communication and collaboration among internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies to foster alignment and mutual understanding.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and company standards in all civil engineering works.
Prepare and present technical reports, cost summaries, and project updates for senior management and other stakeholders.
Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, ensuring transparency and traceability.
Risk Management
Identify, evaluate, and address technical, financial, and operational risks related to civil engineering projects.
Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity and safety.
Environmental and Social Impact Management
Ensure all civil engineering activities align with sustainable development goals and minimize environmental impact.
Collaborate with environmental and community teams to address social and environmental concerns in project designs.
What skills and experience do you need?

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred); Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
Minimum 12 years of experience in civil engineering, contract management,  procurement, and project management, with a minimum of 5 years in Senior Estimating & Civil Engineer role in the mining or construction industry; Experience working on development projects in copper and/or gold mining is highly preferred.
Demonstrated success in cost estimation and contract management for infrastructure projects, particularly in remote and rugged terrains.
In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, cost estimation, contract management, procurement processes, and project management methodologies.
Advanced Excel skills, including data modelling and analysis. 
Proficiency in engineering software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as cost estimation and project management tools such as Primavera and SAP.
A strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and sustainability principles in mining.
Advanced proficiency in data analysis to inform cost estimates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations; 
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing outcomes; Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders; Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment; Experience working in remote and logistically challenging locations, with a commitment to safety and cultural awareness; Resilience to handle the challenges of working in remote locations, including cultural sensitivities and logistical complexities; Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; Proven ability to adapt to dynamic project requirements and thrive in high-pressure environments; Ability to interpret and present complex data clearly to support informed decision-making.
Willingness to travel and spend extended periods at remote exploration or operational sites.
Fluency in English is required; additional language skills relevant to the project locations are an advantage.
