Role Overview

Samara is building landmark hospitality and residential projects on one of Indonesia's most exciting — and demanding — islands. As Project Manager, you are the central nerve of every build: coordinating consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders across a frontier environment where the nearest hardware depot may be hours away and a late cement delivery can cascade into a week's delay. This role demands someone who can enforce international luxury construction standards with the same energy they use to improvise solutions when the island throws a curveball. Key Responsibilities

Serve as the single point of coordination between architects, engineers, specialist consultants, subcontractors, and the Samara leadership team — ensuring every party is aligned on scope, schedule, and quality expectations at all times.

Develop and rigorously maintain master project schedules using tools such as MS Project or Primavera, proactively identifying float risks caused by island-specific constraints including shipping delays, import customs, and seasonal monsoon windows.

Manage project budgets with full cost accountability — tracking actual vs. forecast spend, issuing early warnings on cost creep, and negotiating with local and national suppliers to extract maximum value without compromising Hyatt-aligned quality standards.

Lead daily and weekly site coordination meetings, producing clear minutes and action logs that hold all parties to committed timelines — including international consultants operating remotely across time zones.

Implement and enforce Samara's construction quality framework and safety protocols on site, conducting regular inspections and ensuring all works meet approved drawings, specifications, and luxury finish standards regardless of the logistical environment.

Own the procurement pipeline for materials and specialist equipment — anticipating long-lead items, managing import logistics, and building contingency stock strategies to buffer against Lombok's supply chain unpredictability.

Manage contractor and subcontractor performance through clear KPIs, progress valuations, and timely variation management — resolving disputes fairly and decisively to maintain site momentum.

Report project health (schedule, cost, quality, risk) to senior leadership through structured weekly and monthly reporting, translating complex site realities into clear executive-level insights and recommendations.

Identify, log, and actively mitigate project risks specific to the island context — including weather events, permit delays, workforce availability, and material substitution requirements — with documented contingency plans ready before problems escalate.

Champion a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and resourcefulness across all site teams, ensuring that remote conditions never become an excuse for compromising the standard of delivery Samara's clients expect.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on project management experience delivering construction projects — hospitality, resort, or high-end residential strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing projects in remote, developing, or island environments where infrastructure, supply chain, and workforce availability are genuine daily challenges — not theoretical risks.

Proven ability to manage full project lifecycle from mobilisation through to defect-free handover, with direct accountability for schedule and budget.

Fluency in reading and interrogating architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.

Strong command of English (written and spoken) for international consultant coordination; Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is highly advantageous.

Must be willing and able to be permanently onsite in Lombok — this role does not accommodate remote or hybrid arrangements.

Nice to Have

PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.

Prior experience working within internationally branded hospitality developments (Hyatt, Marriott, Six Senses, or equivalent) with exposure to brand technical standards and operator pre-opening requirements.

Familiarity with Indonesian construction permitting processes (IMB/PBG), local contractor ecosystems, and material sourcing across Lombok, Bali, and Java.

Experience managing villa or resort pool construction, tropical landscaping coordination, or FF&E installation at luxury standard.

Working knowledge of BIM workflows and 3D model coordination for clash detection and design review.

Prior experience hiring, training, and retaining site supervision staff in a low-supply talent market.
