Working Location : Site Based - West Sumbawa

Working Schedule : Regular working days 5:2 (Monday-Friday)

Some of your duties will include:

 

Ensure reliable and continuous operation of instrumentation, control, and automation systems for the SWRO Desalination Plant, sitewide WTP, and STP facilities.

Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and optimization of PLC, HMI, and VSD systems across Utilities water and wastewater assets.

Support system availability, process stability, and safe operation of desalination, potable water, and sewage treatment processes.

Ensure instrumentation and control systems support water quality, environmental compliance, and operational requirements sitewide.

Instrumentation & Control – Technical

Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC, HMI, and control system performance for SWRO, WTP, STP, pre-treatment, CIP, sludge handling, aeration, and chemical dosing systems.

Configure, monitor, and optimize VSD parameters for pumps, blowers, mixers, and motors used in water and wastewater treatment processes.

Review, maintain, and optimize alarms, interlocks, and control logic to ensure safe, stable, and reliable operation across Utilities facilities.

Support commissioning, performance testing, and system handover activities for desalination, WTP, and STP assets.

Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for advanced troubleshooting, system upgrades, and automation improvements sitewide.

Instrumentation Maintenance & Reliability

Oversee calibration, inspection, and maintenance of field instruments including flow, pressure, level, pH, conductivity, ORP, turbidity, chlorine, and other process analyzers.

Ensure proper inspection and maintenance of MCCs, control panels, PLC cabinets, analyzers, and instrumentation cabling across Utilities facilities.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance strategies for instrumentation and automation assets.

Maintain instrumentation drawings, loop diagrams, control narratives, and automation documentation in accordance with IFMS standards.

Operational Support

Provide engineering and troubleshooting support to operations teams during abnormal conditions, plant trips, and process upsets across SWRO, WTP, and STP.

Support data trending, monitoring, and performance analysis for process optimization, membrane protection, and biological process stability.

Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for control system failures and recurring instrumentation issues.

Ensure proper backup, version control, and change management for PLC and HMI programs across sitewide systems.

Continuous Improvement & Projects

Identify opportunities for automation enhancement, energy efficiency, reliability improvement, and operational risk reduction.

Support minor modification, debottlenecking, and improvement projects related to instrumentation and control systems across Utilities assets.

Participate in technical reviews for new equipment, system upgrades, and Utilities water and wastewater technology implementation.

What skills and experience do you need?

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, or related field with relevant automation or control system certification.

Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in instrumentation and control systems within water treatment, wastewater treatment, desalination, power plant, or industrial utilities with preferred experience in SWRO, large-scale WTP or STP.

Knowledge of PLC and HMI systems, field instrumentation, and basic process control concepts across platforms such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider Electric, Omron, or equivalent, with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently under pressure, and experience in commissioning, system optimization, and root cause analysis (RCA).

Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools, with familiarity in CMMS platforms and control system software.

Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate
