Background
The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with sites offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU Nepal closely collaborates with the National Academy of Medical Sciences in Kathmandu, and OUCRU Indonesia exists in partnership with the University of Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991.

OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. Job Summary
The Field Coordinator – Hepatitis B (District) will lead the implementation of hepatitis B–related activities under the SPHERES initiative at the district level. This includes managing a serial serosurvey among children (13–24 months) to assess hepatitis B prevalence, as well as coordinating data-driven interventions to reduce vertical transmission. The role will work closely with District Health Offices, Puskesmas, and SPHERES teams to ensure high-quality data collection, effective use of data for action, and strengthened service delivery across the continuum of care for prevention of mother to child transmission of Hepatitis B.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of the hepatitis B serosurvey at district level, including coordination with health facilities and field teams, ensuring adherence to study protocols, overseeing training and fieldwork, maintaining data quality, and ensuring timely completion of multiple survey rounds.
Coordinate hepatitis B program implementation and care gap closure activities, working with Puskesmas and SPHERES teams to identify missed cases across the continuum of care (e.g., screening, follow-up testing, treatment, immunization, and confirmation test), and ensuring delivery of targeted actions such as home visits, follow-up testing, and linkage to care.
Oversee data flow, validation, and use for decision-making, including integration with existing digital systems (e.g., SIHEPI), ensuring completeness and accuracy of data, and translating data into actionable insights (“prescription for action”) at facility and district levels.
Engage and coordinate with key stakeholders at district level, including District Health Offices, Puskesmas leadership, midwives, and relevant partners, to ensure alignment with local health priorities, smooth implementation of activities, and strong ownership of hepatitis B interventions.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, or a related field (Master’s degree will be preferred)
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in public health program implementation, preferably at district level
Experience in managing surveys, field research, or surveillance activities is highly desirable
Strong understanding of maternal and child health and/or infectious diseases (hepatitis B experience is an advantage)
Proven ability to work with government stakeholders and manage multi-site coordination
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to translate data into action through R, Stata, SAS, Phyton or other statistical tools\
Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and good working knowledge of English
