Job Summary
The Deputy Project Manager supports the Project Manager in the delivery of construction projects across the full project lifecycle, from planning through execution to handover. The role focuses on day-to-day site coordination, supervision of contractors and consultants, progress monitoring, quality control, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
The Deputy Project Manager acts as the Project Manager’s representative on site when required and plays a key role in identifying and resolving technical and operational issues to support successful project completion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
Assist in the development and implementation of project execution plans, construction schedules, and work programs.
Support the Project Manager in managing daily site operations and construction activities.
Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
2. Site Coordination & Supervision
Coordinate site activities between subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams.
Monitor site manpower, equipment allocation, and productivity.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with project requirements and construction standards.
3. Schedule & Progress Monitoring
Track construction progress against approved baseline schedules and milestones.
Identify potential delays, constraints, and risks, and propose corrective or mitigation measures.
Prepare accurate weekly and monthly progress reports for internal management and stakeholders.
4. Cost Control & Resource Management
Support project cost monitoring, forecasting, and budget control.
Assist in reviewing subcontractor claims, variations, and change orders.
Support procurement planning to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment in line with construction schedules.
5. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure construction works comply with contract specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
Support QA/QC processes including inspections, testing, and documentation.
Assist in managing snag lists, defect rectification, and handover documentation.
6. Health, Safety & Environmental Management
Promote and enforce compliance with HSE policies and local construction safety regulations.
Support the implementation of safe work practices, approved method statements, and site safety programs.
Participate in safety audits, toolbox meetings, and incident investigations, and escalate safety concerns as required.
7. Stakeholder & Communication Management
Represent the Project Manager in meetings when required.
Liaise with consultants, contractors, authorities, and internal teams on technical and site-related matters.
Ensure timely communication of site issues, approvals, and project updates.
8. Documentation & Project Administration
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, including RFIs, site instructions, reports, and as-built drawings.
Support contract administration and coordination of project close-out documentation.
Assist with commissioning, testing, and final handover activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
5–10 years of experience in construction project management or site supervision roles.
Strong understanding of construction project lifecycle, site execution, scheduling, and coordination processes.
Proficiency in MS Office and project management software (Primavera and/or MS Project).
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp for coordination and review purposes.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong site leadership, coordination, and supervision skills.
Solid understanding of construction contracts and standard contract forms (e.g. FIDIC).
Ability to identify issues early and support practical, site-based problem solving.
Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Good time management and ability to manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, variations, and basic risk management.
Fluent spoken and written English.
Willingness to be site-based in Kuta, Lombok, with flexibility to travel if required.
Reporting Line
Reports directly to the Project Manager.
