Job Summary:
The sushi chef is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi & sashimi dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation. The role requires a combination of technical skill, creativity, and attention to detail to provide an exceptional dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve a variety of sushi items, including nigiri, maki, and sashimi, in accordance with restaurant standards
Ensure the freshness, quality, and proper storage of all ingredients, especially fish and seafood
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen area and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
Handle ingredient preparation, including fish filleting, cutting, and plating with proper techniques
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations
Control portion sizes and minimize food waste
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or Sushi Cook for 2 years or more
Strong knowledge of basic and advanced sushi preparation techniques
Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Detail-oriented, disciplined, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
