Scope of Work:
The Communition Coordinator will be responsible for leading, planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning and operational readiness activities specific to the communition area (crushing, grinding, and related circuits) to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely start-up of the new or expanded mineral processing plant. The role ensures that all Communition-related systems and equipment are installed, commissioned, and handed over to operations according to project specifications, HSE standards, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities for Communition equipment (e.g., Primary Crusher, Secondary Crusher, SAG Mill, Ball Mills, HPGRs if applicable, Conveyors, etc.).
Develop commissioning procedures, method statements, and detailed commissioning plans specific to the Communition circuits.
Coordinate closely with EPC contractor, vendors, and OEM representatives to ensure installation and commissioning works are in accordance with design and quality standards.
Organize and supervise field functional testing, mechanical completion checks, and punch list clearance activities for Communition systems.
Identify and manage risks related to Communition commissioning activities, ensuring strict implementation of safety standards and procedures.
Support training and competency validation of operations and maintenance personnel in Communition systems.
Manage progress tracking, reporting, and documentation for all Communition commissioning activities.
Interface between the project team, operational readiness team, maintenance, HSE, and vendors to ensure alignment in commissioning priorities and operational handover requirements.
Assist in the preparation of commissioning "hand-over" packages and ensure all relevant operational documentation (manuals, SOPs, commissioning reports) are complete and accurate.
Drive troubleshooting, optimization, and initial ramp-up efforts for the Communition area during hot commissioning and early operations.
Monitor early performance indicators, equipment health, and ensure rapid response to equipment or system failures during commissioning and ramp-up.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in Communition systems in mineral processing plants.
Minimum 5 years specific experience in commissioning of Communition systems (crushing, grinding circuits) within mining projects (preferably Copper & Gold).
Demonstrated experience coordinating vendors/OEMs during commissioning and early operations.
Experience in EPC projects and working in multicultural, multidisciplinary environments is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of Communition equipment operations and maintenance requirements (crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps).
Strong understanding of commissioning processes, permit to work systems, risk assessments, and construction/commissioning handover protocols.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical GA drawings).
Other Requirements:
Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
Excellent safety awareness and ability to lead safe work practices.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Fluent in English (written and verbal) preferred.
Willing to work on a site-based roster in a remote mining area.
