Scope of Work:

The Area Lead – C&OR is responsible for the execution, coordination, and supervision of commissioning activities within a defined process area (e.g., Crushing, Milling, Flotation, Concentrate Handling, Tailings Management, Utilities, etc.) during the Process Plant Expansion project.
This role ensures that all pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities are planned and performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and operational readiness requirements.
The Area Lead will also interface between Construction, Commissioning, Vendors, and Operations teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction to full operational handover.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead commissioning preparation and execution for the assigned area, including pre-commissioning and functional testing.

Develop detailed commissioning plans, punch lists, and turnover dossiers for the area.

Supervise Area Commissioning Engineers, Technicians, and Vendors during commissioning activities.

Coordinate closely with Construction, Operations, HSE, and Vendor teams to ensure systems are mechanically completed and ready for commissioning.

Manage Area-specific commissioning schedules and align with overall project milestones.

Ensure commissioning procedures and check sheets are properly completed and recorded.

Identify, manage, and close punch list items related to the assigned area.

Facilitate safe energization, first fills, mechanical runs, and system integration testing.

Lead risk assessments and participate in HAZID/HAZOP closeouts related to the area.

Support training of operational personnel on new systems during commissioning.

Drive a safety-first culture, ensuring all commissioning activities comply with project and company HSE requirements.

Provide technical input into troubleshooting and problem-solving during commissioning and early operations phases.

Prepare and support handover documentation for Operations, ensuring the area meets Performance Test criteria where applicable.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Metallurgical) or equivalent technical discipline.

Alternatively, extensive relevant experience in lieu of formal degree will be considered for exceptional candidates.

Experience:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in commissioning and start-up, preferably within mineral processing plants (Copper, Gold, or other base/precious metals).

Minimum 5 years in a leadership or area coordinator role during commissioning phases of large-scale EPC or brownfield expansion projects.

Direct experience with process plant systems: Crushing, Milling, Flotation, Reagents, Utilities, Tailings, or Concentrate Handling.

Experience working in a multicultural environment and remote project locations preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong technical understanding of mineral processing plant systems and operations.

Knowledge of commissioning best practices, structured turnover processes, and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, Australian Standards, Indonesian Standards if applicable).

Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, control narratives, commissioning plans, and construction drawings.

Effective leadership, coordination, and decision-making skills under pressure.

Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written); Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is advantageous.

Proficient with MS Office Suite and commissioning management systems (e.g., CMS, ICAPS, WinPCS) is an advantage.

Demonstrated commitment to HSE leadership during commissioning and operations readiness.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Commissioning Management Systems (such as AACEI CCP, PMOC, or equivalent) is an advantage.

Exposure to digital commissioning tools or paperless systems.

Previous experience supporting Operations Readiness (training, SOP development, maintenance strategy input) will be highly regarded.
