Job Title: Environmental Monitoring Intern – Air & Water (Mataram, Lombok)
Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Monitoring Intern to support our team in monitoring air and water quality. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental science, fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting. The intern will assist in data collection, sampling, laboratory analysis, and contributing to environmental compliance efforts.
As an intern, you will work closely with experienced environmental professionals, learning industry-standard monitoring practices and tools while helping to ensure environmental protection and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in fieldwork, including the collection of air and water samples from various locations (e.g., rivers, lakes, urban air quality stations)
Help operate and maintain environmental monitoring instruments (e.g., air quality monitors, water sampling devices)
Support laboratory analysis of water and air samples, including the preparation of equipment and materials
Assist in the processing and analysis of environmental data, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality control procedures
Prepare technical documentation and reports on findings from sampling events
Assist in environmental compliance activities and environmental audits
Collaborate with team members to identify trends, patterns, and potential pollution sources
Stay informed on environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives
Participate in team meetings and discussions regarding project updates and findings
Requirements:
Education:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
Experience:
No prior experience is required, but any relevant coursework or volunteer experience in environmental monitoring, fieldwork, or laboratory analysis is a plus
Skills:
Basic knowledge of environmental monitoring methods and equipment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong interest in environmental issues, sustainability, and conservation
Ability to analyze data and summarize findings clearly
Soft Skills:
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Adaptability and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment
Interest in working outdoors and in diverse environments
Other:
Willingness to travel to field sites for data collection (some sites may be in remote or outdoor environments)
Ability to lift moderate weight equipment and work in varying environmental conditions
Availability for a full-time or part-time internship (e.g., 3-6 months, depending on academic schedule)
Preferred:
Knowledge or coursework in environmental regulations (e.g., EPA standards, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act)
Previous experience in outdoor work or field research (even through academic projects or volunteer work)
