Some of your duties will include:
Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the proper functioning of chemical processes, environmental compliance, and regulatory adherence within the plant. Ensures that the chemistry of plant processes is well-managed, compliant with regulations, and optimized for efficiency.
Water Treatment: Monitoring and managing water treatment processes to ensure proper chemical dosing and water quality for boilers, cooling systems, and other plant equipment; Implementing corrosion control measures to protect plant components.
Chemical Analysis: Conducting regular chemical analyses of water, fuel, and other plant fluids to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations; Interpreting analytical data to identify trends and potential issues.
Emissions Control: Ensuring compliance with air emissions regulations by monitoring and optimizing combustion processes; Implementing strategies to minimize pollutants and control emissions.
Waste Management: Overseeing the proper handling, storage, and disposal of waste generated within the power plant; Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management.
Environmental Compliance:; Staying current with environmental regulations and ensuring the power plant's activities align with these standards; Coordinating with regulatory agencies and conducting periodic compliance audits.
Chemical Procurement and Inventory Management: Managing the procurement of chemicals required for plant operations; Maintaining an inventory of chemicals, ensuring proper storage, and minimizing waste.
Documentation and Reporting: Keeping detailed records of chemical usage, emissions data, and compliance documentation; Preparing and submitting regulatory reports to relevant authorities.
Safety Protocols: Implementing safety protocols for handling and storing chemicals; Conducting safety training for plant personnel involved in chemical processes.
Collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to address chemistry-related issues and optimize plant performance; Participating in cross-functional teams for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
What skills and experience do you need?
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 10 years’ related experiences. Strong background in chemical engineering principles relevant to power plant operations is a must.
Have minimum 5 years’ experiences in Engineer level in similar role as Engineer Compliance Chemistry within a combined cycle power plant or a related industry.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance requirements applicable to the power generation industry.
General knowledge of all areas of industrial plant maintenance.
Competency and knowledge of the basic plant layout, equipment and systems of a large industrial project.
Ability to analyze chemical and environmental data to ensure optimal plant performance and compliance; Ability to manage projects related to compliance initiatives and process improvements; Ability to troubleshoot and resolve chemistry-related issues in a timely manner.
Effective communication with regulatory agencies, internal teams, and other stakeholders; Ability to convey technical information to non-technical personnel;
Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices in chemical handling and plant operations.
Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
Strong computer skills and be competent in all Microsoft Office software programs, as well as project-specific software.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; good in coaching/mentoring; good analytical; conflict resolution.
