Director of Engineering – Selong Selo Resort & Villas
Executive Position Summary
The Director of Engineering serves as a senior executive leader responsible for the strategic direction, asset integrity, infrastructure performance, and capital enhancement of Selong Selo Resort & Villas. This role ensures that all engineering, maintenance, renovation, sustainability, and infrastructure initiatives support the resort’s long-term asset value, operational excellence, owner satisfaction, and luxury guest experience.
The position functions as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, advising ownership and senior management on capital investments, risk management, sustainability strategy, infrastructure development, and property enhancement initiatives.
Strategic Purpose of the Role
• Safeguard and enhance the long-term value of all resort physical assets.
• Lead capital expenditure planning, renovation strategy, and infrastructure development.
• Ensure engineering operations align with corporate financial, operational, and brand objectives.
• Drive operational efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in engineering practices.
• Support owner relations, villa asset standards, and investment protection.
Executive Responsibilities
1. Strategic Asset Leadership
• Develop and implement a comprehensive engineering and asset management strategy aligned with ownership vision and corporate objectives.
• Provide executive oversight of all resort infrastructure, buildings, villas, utilities, landscaping, and technical systems.
• Lead long-term capital planning including refurbishment cycles, infrastructure upgrades, and asset lifecycle management.
• Identify opportunities to enhance property value, operational efficiency, and guest experience through engineering innovation.
• Act as the principal advisor to the General Manager and ownership on engineering risk, asset preservation, and capital investment decisions.
2. Capital Projects, Renovation & Development
• Direct all major renovation, redevelopment, and infrastructure enhancement projects across the resort and villas.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to luxury hospitality standards.
• Oversee feasibility studies, budgeting, contractor selection, project governance, and quality assurance.
• Ensure all projects support brand positioning, sustainability commitments, and operational functionality.
• Manage stakeholder relationships including owners, consultants, architects, and government authorities.
3. Engineering Governance & Operational Excellence
• Establish robust engineering governance, policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
• Ensure preventive maintenance programs protect asset longevity and operational reliability.
• Maintain full compliance with Indonesian regulations, safety standards, environmental requirements, and licensing obligations.
• Implement technology-driven maintenance solutions and asset tracking systems.
• Ensure infrastructure resilience including utilities, energy systems, water management, roads, and landscaping infrastructure.
4. Financial Stewardship & Business Performance
• Lead preparation and control of Engineering OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Align engineering investments with business strategy and ROI expectations.
• Drive cost efficiency initiatives while protecting service quality and safety standards.
• Monitor utilities consumption and champion sustainability-driven cost optimization.
• Ensure transparent financial governance and accountability for all engineering expenditures.
5. Sustainability, Innovation & Future Readiness
• Champion environmental sustainability initiatives including energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.
• Identify emerging technologies and engineering solutions that enhance operational performance.
• Support ESG objectives and responsible resort development practices.
• Ensure infrastructure readiness for future expansion and evolving operational demands.
6. Guest Experience & Owner Relations
• Ensure engineering standards consistently support luxury guest comfort and reliability.
• Maintain strong relationships with villa owners regarding asset care, renovation standards, and engineering support.
• Address high-level engineering concerns affecting guest or owner satisfaction promptly and professionally.
7. Leadership, Culture & Talent Development
• Provide executive leadership to the Engineering Department, fostering accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Build strong succession planning, competency development, and leadership pipelines within engineering teams.
• Promote a high-performance culture aligned with SELO values and corporate standards.
• Ensure cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Finance, HR, Security, and Villa Management.
8. Risk Management, Compliance & Safety
• Maintain comprehensive risk management strategies covering infrastructure, safety, environmental impact, and operational continuity.
• Ensure life-safety systems, emergency preparedness, and crisis response frameworks are fully operational.
• Oversee statutory inspections, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
Executive Qualifications
• Education
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or related discipline.
• Experience
• Minimum 10+ years in senior engineering leadership roles within luxury hospitality, integrated resorts, or large property developments.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale renovations, infrastructure projects, and asset enhancement initiatives.
• Experience working with property owners, developers, and corporate stakeholders preferred.
