MANAGER - ENVIRONMENTAL STRATEGIC PROJECT

 

(National - Site Based)

Some of your duties will include:

To lead and manage environmental planning, governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management for strategic projects and operational activities by developing environmental standards, systems, and sustainable solutions that align with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The role provides expert technical advice, drives improvements in environmental performance, and builds effective stakeholder relationships to ensure environmentally responsible, compliant, and sustainable business operations, while fostering the development of environmental capabilities across the organization.

1. Environmental Project Planning and Strategy

·       Lead the environmental planning and strategy development for new projects, expansions, and operational modifications.

·       Ensure environmental requirements are incorporated into project design, execution, commissioning, and closure phases.

·       Develop environmental roadmaps, objectives, and implementation plans aligned with corporate and regulatory requirements.

·       Identify environmental risks, opportunities, and mitigation measures for strategic business projects.

·       Support long-term environmental planning to achieve sustainable operational performance.

 

2. Environmental Permitting and Regulatory Compliance

·       Coordinate environmental studies, permitting processes, and regulatory approvals required for project development and operation.

·       Ensure compliance with Indonesian environmental regulations, environmental permits, AMDAL commitments, RKAB obligations, and applicable international standards.

·       Monitor regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on project development and operational activities.

·       Provide technical guidance to project teams regarding environmental legal obligations and permit conditions.

·       Coordinate with environmental sections from all Amman Entities to ensure compliance.

 

3. Environmental Standards and Governance

·       Develop, review, and maintain environmental standards, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions for new and existing projects.

·       Establish project environmental governance frameworks and assurance processes.

·       Promote integration of environmental management systems and ISO 14001 requirements into project execution.

·       Ensure consistency and standardization of environmental practices across all project activities.

 

4. Environmental Risk Management

·       Lead environmental risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes for strategic projects.

·       Evaluate environmental monitoring results and emerging environmental issues to support risk-based decision-making.

·       Develop preventative and corrective action plans to address environmental risks and compliance gaps.

·       Support incident investigations and implementation of lessons learned across projects.

 

5. Technical Environmental Advisory

·       Serve as the principal environmental technical advisor to project management teams, engineering groups, and senior leadership.

·       Provide expert guidance on water management, waste management, marine impacts, biodiversity, air quality, reclamation, and tailings management.

·       Review environmental assessments, technical studies, designs, and management plans.

·       Ensure technical recommendations are scientifically sound and aligned with industry’s best practices.

 

6. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

·       Build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, regulators, consultants, academic institutions, and community stakeholders.

·       Represent the company during environmental audits, inspections, permit reviews, and technical meetings.

·       Prepare and deliver technical presentations and reports to internal and external stakeholders.

·       Support the development of trust and credibility through strong technical knowledge and professional communication.

 

7. Project Performance and Continuous Improvement

·       Monitor environmental project performance against established objectives, KPIs, budgets, and schedules.

·       Identify opportunities for innovation, operational efficiency, and environmental performance improvement.

·       Promote best practices and benchmarking against leading mining and industrial operations.

·       Lead environmental improvement initiatives supporting ESG and sustainability objectives.

 

8. Leadership and Team Development

·       Provide leadership, coaching, and technical mentoring to environmental professionals.

·       Develop environmental competencies within the project and environmental teams.

·       Foster a culture of environmental excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continual improvement.

·       Support succession planning and capability development within the Environmental Department.

·       Other duties as assigned

 

What skills and experience do you need?

 

·       Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Natural Resources, Geology, Forestry, or other related disciplines.

·       Postgraduate Degree (Master’s Degree) in Environmental, Mining, or other related scientific fields will be an advantage.

·       Environmental Auditor qualification/certification is preferred.

·       Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, and environmental monitoring programs within the mining industry or similar industries.

·       Proven experience in managing environmental regulatory programs, permitting, and compliance requirements.

·       Demonstrated management and supervisory experience, including team leadership, staff development, training, and budget management.

·       Experience in reclamation, rehabilitation, and environmental project implementation is highly desirable.

·       Experience working closely with regulators, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary operational teams.

·       Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and statutory requirements applicable to mining operations.

·       Strong understanding of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques.

·       Thorough knowledge of environmental management systems and international standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and related frameworks.

·       Ability to develop and implement strategic environmental programs that support operational and project objectives.

·       Ability to identify environmental risks and hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective mitigation measures.

·       Ability to interpret government regulations and corporate HSE requirements and ensure compliance across operational activities.

·       Ability to lead environmental incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

·       Experience conducting environmental audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and performance evaluations.

·       Ability to monitor environmental performance, maintain compliance records, and prepare reports for management and regulatory authorities.

·       Experience evaluating contractor environmental performance and ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements.

·       Ability to provide strategic environmental recommendations related to operational development, project execution, risk management, and sustainability objectives.

·       Strong leadership and people management skills with experience leading multidisciplinary teams; Proven ability to develop and deliver environmental training, coaching, and awareness programs; Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with regulators, contractors, consultants, and community representatives;  Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities; Ability to influence strategic environmental decisions and support business objectives through proactive environmental management.

·       Strong communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.

·    Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.

 

Working Location             : Site Based -  West Sumbawa

Working Schedule            :Regular working days 5:2 (Monday-Friday)
