To supervise, control, and ensure the reliability, integrity, and optimal performance of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and DCS (Distributed Control System) systems across the processing plant (Crushing, Milling, Flotation, Pumps, Conveyors, Utilities), supporting safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production operations.

Some of your duties will include:

A. Maintenance & Reliability Management

Supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for PLC/DCS systems.

Ensure high availability and reliability of control systems supporting: Crushing & Conveying systems, Grinding (SAG & Ball Mill), Flotation circuits, Pumping & Slurry Transport Systems

Monitor system health (controllers, I/O modules, network communication).

Lead troubleshooting of control system failures and process disturbances.

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for control/instrumentation failures.

B. Control System Operation & Optimization

Maintain and optimize control logic, interlocks, alarms, and control loops.

Ensure proper tuning of PID loops and advanced process control strategies.

Support plant performance improvement through control system enhancement.

Maintain system redundancy and fail-safe configuration.

C. System Configuration & Programming

Manage PLC/DCS programming, modifications, and upgrades.

Ensure version control, backup, and documentation of all control logic.

Validate changes through Management of Change (MoC) procedures.

Coordinate system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.

D. Instrumentation & Communication Integration

Ensure integration between PLC/DCS and field instruments: Flow, level, pressure, temperature transmitters; Control valves and actuators

Maintain communication systems: Industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.)

 SCADA and HMI systems

E. Shutdown & Project Support

Plan and execute PLC/DCS activities during plant shutdowns.

Support commissioning, start-up, and system integration for new equipment/projects.

Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) & SAT (Site Acceptance Test).

F. Safety, Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with: HSE standards, Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO procedures, Functional Safety requirements

Maintain cyber security standards for industrial control systems.

Ensure adherence to company SOPs and engineering standards.

G. Team Leadership & Supervision

Supervise and develop technicians and junior engineers.

Allocate manpower and manage daily maintenance activities.

Conduct competency assessments and technical coaching.

Manage contractor/vendor performance.

H. Planning, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Develop weekly and shutdown maintenance plans.

Monitor KPIs: Control system availability, MTBF / MTTR, Process stability indicators

Prepare reports on system performance and improvement initiatives.

Drive digitalization and automation improvement initiatives.

What skills and experience do you need?

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering;/ Automation Engineering

Have 8 years of working experiences in PL/ DCS maintenance within large process plants such as mining, mineral processing, heavy industry; At least have 5 years’ experience in Supervisory role as Supervisor – Maintenance PLC/DCS

Strong knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider); DCS systems (e.g., Yokogawa, Honeywell, Emerson, ABB)

Experience with: SCADA/HMI systems, Industrial communication protocols, Control loop tuning & process control

Familiar with: Functional Safety (SIL, ESD systems), Instrument calibration & integration

Certifications (Preferred) : PLC/DCS vendor certifications, Functional Safety Certification (e.g., TÜV), HSE certifications (e.g., K3, Confined Space, LOTO)

Strong leadership, team coordination and supervision; Good planning, organizational & time management skills; Ability to work both independently and as a team player and thrive in a fast paced, high-pressure environment; Effective communication and work productively with internal and external individuals; Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; High attention to detail, Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Continuous improvement mindset; Safety leadership and compliance.

Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
