Job Description: Wooden Maintenance Staff
Location: Mad Monkey Hostels Gili Trawangan
Position Overview
The Wooden Maintenance Staff is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and preserving all wooden structures, furniture, and fixtures within Mad Monkey Hostels Gili Trawangan. This role ensures that all wooden elements remain safe, functional, and visually aligned with the hostel’s standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect wooden structures, furniture, and facilities regularly (beds, doors, railings, decks, tables, chairs, etc.).
Repair damaged wooden items such as broken beds, loose frames, cracked panels, or worn fixtures.
Perform sanding, varnishing, painting, or polishing of wooden surfaces to maintain appearance and durability.
Replace or reinforce wooden components when necessary to ensure safety and functionality.
Assist in the construction or modification of wooden furniture and fixtures when required.
Conduct preventative maintenance to avoid deterioration caused by humidity, termites, or weather exposure.
Ensure tools and materials are used safely and stored properly after work.
Report major structural issues or required material purchases to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager.
Support general maintenance tasks when required by the operations team.
Requirements
Experience in carpentry or wooden maintenance is preferred.
Basic knowledge of woodworking tools and repair techniques.
Ability to identify damage, wear, and structural issues in wooden materials.
Physically fit and able to lift or move furniture when needed.
Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures.
Basic English communication is an advantage.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of wood finishing (varnish, coating, waterproofing).
Experience working in hospitality properties such as hotels or hostels.
Understanding of termite prevention and wood treatment.
Working Relationships
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor / Operations Manager
Works closely with: Housekeeping, Front Office, and Operations Team.
