Amman Academy commenced operation in July, 2008 on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. It was previously known as Sekolah Buin Batu. Although the school is relatively new, it is the amalgamation of two pre-existing schools – Sekolah Nasional Buin Batu (SNBB) and Batu Hijau International School (BHIS). SNBB was established on 17th January 2000 in Townsite and BHIS in 1998 in Mataram. 

The school specifically serves the dependants of employees and contractors of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara’s vast copper and gold mine here, known as the Batu Hijau Project. All the staff primarily consists of Indonesian members complemented by expatriate teachers from Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, and the USA.

Some of your duties will include:

Principal Middle School & High School will be responsible as a Leaders at all levels of the school are committed to decision and actions aligned with the school’s mission, vision, and core commitments. This role is a key member of the school leadership team and is directly responsible for all operations and outcomes within the school from year 6 to grade 12, and ensures the school meets its obligations to Indonesia authorities, including the ministries of education, immigration and manpower.

Curriculum Leadership

Develop and maintain a rigorous, international curriculum that maximizes student learning and potential
Lead curriculum alignment with international and national education standards
School Environment

Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students, staff and the community
Operational Management

Manage people, facilities, budgets, and systems to ensure the smooth functioning of the Middle school and High School division
Oversee the effective use of resources to support learning outcomes for students and staff
Community Engagement

Build strong relationships with the school community and beyond
Promote the school’s achievements and foster collaboration with stakeholders
Professional Development

Guide goal-setting and professional growth for all employees
Provide timely and constructive feedback to staff
Facilitate training and workshops to enhance professional skills
Student Assessment and Achievement

Monitor and report student progress to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement
This role will be engaged in consultation regarding : progress on strategic plans (short & long term); Input from the School Committee/ Parent Committee on school operations’ Parental concerns requiring school action; Policy changes affecting students, teachers, or staff; Marketing and advertising strategies for the school.

What skills and experience do you need?

Advance qualification in Education (Master’s degree or PhD), Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Minimum 12 - 15 years of experience in education, with at least 5 years in a leadership experience in an educational institution as Principal School/ Vice Principal School, or similar of Middle School / High School, ideally in an international school. 
Experience in managing bilingual education settings
Experience in managing schools offering international curricula (e.g., International Baccalaureate (is preferred), Cambridge, or equivalent) with Proven track record in academic management, teacher development, and student success.
Professional teaching certification and/or school administration certification.
Has knowledge of curriculum development, student assessment, and educational technologies; Has financial and operational management skills.
Has strong leadership, good in decision-making and problem-solving skills, and good communication skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment; Excellent organizational and multitasking skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural and remote community setting; Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including corporate partners, parents, and students; Passionate about education and fostering global citizenship among students; Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with resilience and creativity; Strong commitment to child safeguarding and inclusive education practices.
Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written (proficiency in an additional language is an advantage) and computer literate
Willingness to work in remote or mining locations as required
