Some of your duties will include:
Planning and Coordination:
Plan and oversee heavy lift activities for the installation of large equipment and structures in accordance with the project schedule.
Coordinate with engineering, construction, and safety teams to ensure smooth execution of heavy lift operations.
Develop and review lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
Supervise on-site heavy lifting activities, ensuring compliance with approved plans and procedures.
Monitor and inspect lifting equipment, such as cranes, gantries, and rigging tools, to ensure they meet project specifications and safety standards.
Verify load calculations, sling configurations, and equipment certifications.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure all heavy lifting operations comply with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO); Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure all personnel involved in lifting operations understand their roles and responsibilities; Report and investigate any incidents or near-misses during heavy lift operations.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of lifting operations, equipment inspections, and personnel certifications; Provide daily/weekly progress reports to the project manager and highlight any risks or delays; Participate in project review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Supervise and guide the lifting crew, including riggers, signalers, and crane operators.
Evaluate the performance of team members and ensure adequate training is provided for skill development.
What skills and experience do you need?
Tertiary Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with proven experience in heavy lifting for large-scale EPC projects, preferably in mining or mineral processing plants.
Have minimum 7-10 years of experience in heavy lifting operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role; Familiarity with lifting equipment such as mobile cranes, crawler cranes, and gantry systems.
Have Certification in Heavy Lifting Operations (e.g., LEEA, CICB, or equivalent); Valid rigging and crane operation certifications are an advantage.
Have knowledge of international heavy lifting standards and practices; Strong knowledge of load calculations, rigging methods, and heavy lifting equipment; Ability to read and interpret lifting plans, engineering drawings, and technical specifications; Proficient in lifting-related software tools (e.g., LiftPlanner, AutoCAD).
Strong leadership and team management abilities; Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills; Effective communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and contractors.
Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate for reporting purposes.
Willingness to work in remote mining project locations on a rotational basis.
